trex crash

It's funny. Now whenever I crash my helis I laugh and end up with a smile on my face when I go to survey the damage. Very strange.

I tweaked a bunch of stuff last night and was anxious to test it out. The tail fin was vibrating a bit, but whatever.. I'm just going to hover so that I can adjust the blade tracking.

I'm already getting too confident for my skills on this thing. It's happen plenty of times on my CP2 and even my Lama. Get cocky and you will crash. I just need to recognize the behavior ahead of time.

One of the things I did last night was to change my EXP to 60 for BOTH stick. I mean wtf. I chose the higher instead of the lower since the lower barely moves the swash. I guess I should of sticked with the lower value. I took off like I've flown this thing 100 times. I was too aggressive and wasn't comfortable with the flight and put it back down right away.

My CP2 has taught me some bad habits. Jamming the throttle stick down to get out of danger is not a good idea on a trex. I have -4 pitch for throttle low, which is not much, but.... Those trex blades are heavy and it has a one way bearing so the blades free-wheel without power (to enable auto-rotations)... That means you still have rpm for quite awhile even with no throttle!

Smash into the ground! Crap. At first I thought I must of tipped a blade into the ground. It all just happened so fast! This thing crashes so much more violently. Yikes. Anyway, what happened upon further thought and browsing of rcgroups was the high rpm and negative pitch threw a blade into the boom on landing. Not good.

Damage.. Broke a main blade. Bashed the other main blade (so much that the metal weights in the blade are smashed, holy crap.) Bent my boom 35 degrees (these things are aluminum that I can barely flex.) Stripped some teeth from my main gear.

So pretty crappy for a crash from so low. Parts ordered. Lesson hopefully learned. I did get a reinforcement that I don't want to get hit by those blades.
