I am a bad person. I now have 3 helis. Terrible.
If you remember from a couple of months ago I posted the heli that I really wanted. This one is not exactly the same one, but very close. This one is the HDE version instead of the CDE version. HDE is just a stupid name for mechanically mixed and CDE is non-mechanically mixed like my CP2. Basically the HDE uses extra levers for swash movement, where the CDE has the servo directly connected to the swash. People argue in the forums about what it better, but most people say you can't tell the difference unless you are a pro.
I bought this one used for $100 + shipping of the rcgroups forums. It came with an aurora 400DH brushless motor and a castle creations 35 amp brushless ESC (electronic speed control). This ESC is one of the more top end models and is all fancy where you can hook it up to you computer if you buy their usb cable.
Buying this stuff new would of been $75 ESC, $50 motor, and $150 for the heli. So overall a good price.
The guy sold it because he wanted to get a blinged out 450xl se after he crashed it. I need to get a 3 parts that are broke and that should cost under $20. I don't quite understand why the guy didn't get it flight ready again before he sold it. He could of sold it for a lot more.
I did test to see if the ESC and motor were still good. I ran the motor without the drive gear and WOW.. This thing with just the motor free spinning is kinda scary. It is going to be incredibly scary once I get it fully setup. Yikes. That motor is freak'n tiny too. I must say that I am already impressed with brushless. It has such a cool high-tech whine to it.
So it'll probably take me 2 weeks to get the parts ordered and the new toy setup. We'll see if it is too scary for me. If it is, I should be able to sell it for more than I paid for it.
