programming

i must be too *web2.0 for you flash. wtf

i was very excited (not really) when i came across haxe.org. it allows me to do my stupid little flash programs without using the terrible flash tools. it's actually pretty damn good. it's just a little actionscript compiler.

so i'm scooting along and want to do something apparently VERY advanced..
have javascript talk to flash. OMG.. not this bullshit have javascript call play and stop crap that you find in all the lame tutorials.

i was blind in my search for the answer. i was so sure that flash had this simple capability that it never occurred to me that maybe.. you just can't do A BASIC FUCKING OPERATION like that in 2006. i'm not sure if it's a flash thing or a javascript thing, but.. what the hell people?

there actually is a solution, but it requires quite a bit of flash and javascript voodoo that is a hubble distance beyond me giving a rats ass of caring how it works.

now maybe i'm insane here and just an actionscript '*noob' or something, but if someone knows the answer let me know. (i'm looking into the flash8 ExternalInterface, but it is not cooperating)
