one of the things that even google recommends is to blend the ads into the page. one of the sites i ran across in my searches does it pretty well..
http://www.layoutsandmore.net/ (he\'ll appreciate another backlink)
another thing people do is stick pictures next to the ads. here is a good example..
http://www.sadstatue.com/ (he\'ll also appreciate another backlink)
btw.. the dude above was asking in a seo (search engine optimization) forum for tips on making it to his next milestone since he reached his $100/day milestone with that site. yes.. $100/day for that freak\'n lame site.
anyway.. i\'ve been playing with my layout. it doesn\'t quite work right yet, but the blending looks like it would be pretty damn effective (once i get some actual traffic). i even find myself having to be careful not to click the ads so google does not get pissed. it\'ll be worse/better once i randomize the location.

i am using up the maximum amount of ads google will allow and it does not look too super commercial. i guess it does look a lot better than stupid giant banner ads all over. i\'m probably going to ad a tag to my xml posts so that i can differentiate between blog entries and \'site\' entries.
hopefully i\'ll stop mucking with it soon enough and google will take me out of the sandbox though my crap PR3 (page rank) of is not helping anything. janel\'s site is a PR4. funny enough.. i checked a few of my friends blogs (yes maybe you!) and one of them is a PR6!! that\'s pretty freak\'n impressive for a personal blog without attempts at optimizing.
