let's make a list. some are related or sub-projects or learning tools of other projects, but i'll put them down anyway. these are not in any particular order. most of these i have not started yet. if half of these end up seeing the light of day i will be quite happy.
-- webcam based laser distance finder
-- biped walking robot for entry in robocup + other robot events
-- working nintendo revolution mockup using accelerometer(s) and maybe some gyros
-- serial to ethernet converter using dallas tini uC
-- robot engineer game for entry in igf as well as biped r&d tool
-- remote controlled rf cam for heli
-- replacement for breast pump motor so we no longer have to rent
-- physicsmark, physics engine benchmark as well as a unified wrapper (which is also benchmarked)
-- camera based motion capture with active or passive markers
-- casual games a & b
-- a decent, but probably not very small hmd with head-tracker
-- rfid cat doorbell and smart feeder
-- webcam facial capture (marker based)
-- flying insect laser targetting system!
-- gamebasis, cross-platform game tools and runtime
-- gamegui
-- a 3-axis cnc vertical mill machine
-- the big game. which the new thinking is.. the niche game with circa 1999 graphics. think system shock + han solo!
-- spiral staircase to basement
-- extra kitchen cabinets
-- rfid cat window entry
-- rfid on ring for front door entry
-- augmented reality monitor portal. make your monitor a virtual 4x larger.
none of these besides the casual games are a direct way to make any money, but that never stopped me in the past. my usual cycle is to have a session working on whatever the hell i want which ends up in a job which pays for the next session. now i just have get rid of that pesky 'having a job ' bit and i'll be set.
