so many projects

let see..

- fixed kitchen faucet

we have a shitty low-end moen faucet and the plastic that holds the handle on broke off. upon inspection it is quite obvious why.. it was designed to break! i won't be buying a moen in the future. ok to the fix.. after 2 tries with jb-weld (i never learn, jb-weld is ass).. i switched to marine epoxy and it seems to be holding solid.

- finish fixing dishwasher

yeah.. the faucet works. next day.. dishwasher floods. yeah.. get out the trusty shop vac and drain it out. run it again to see what is going on.. doesn't fill now. i inspected the circuit board (typical problem for this model), looks fine. i attempted to check the float valve, but after taking off the kick-plate i found that i have to pull the damn thing out to get at it. what the hell. after the nightmare with installing the dishwasher at the old house i am not looking forward to this. bah.

- finish building janel's desk/shelves

i finally get to use my circular saw again! my wood skills are still too crap for nice wood, so i'm just using pine boards. i am building from scratch and it feels awesome to pick out raw wood stock at menards. i also like to dowel things.

- start building my desk extension

i have a corner desk and it just does not have enough real estate for my crap to be spread out on. i'll be adding extensions on each side made out of janels current desk (a door on cabinets).

- start building compost bins

i bought the wood today. just some simple stalls for the back to throw worm food into.

- start building bedroom closet that does not suck

our closet it terrible. when need a new one. i will build it.

- start building additional kitchen cabinets

the guy who used to own the house was a professional cabinet builder and he re-did the kitchen with some custom cabinets. i want to mirror some of the cabinets on the other side of the kitchen because there just is not enough cabinet space. hopefully my wood skills will be high enough so that i 'deserve' to use nice wood.

- finish getting my workshop organized

yikes. that is pretty scary. it's actually worse now since there is a drill press sitting on the corner (i finally broke down and bought a cheap one, woo!). the problem is that i just don't have a space for my stuff. since i don't have a space for it all.. i just give up and pile.. pile.. pile.. bad billy.

of course there are my usual projects.. robot-engineer, robot, pull money out of the inet's ass. in theory i have about 8 hours a day of work time. the day goes something like this..

get up at 10am
*2 hours*
take charge of turing at noon.
turing is asleep at 8pm (technically i team up with janel at 5pm, but there is not a lot realistic usuable time until 8pm)
*6 hours*
go to bed at 2am

that's the theory at least. unfortunately i don't run on 8hours sleep. i need at least 9, but i almost always take 10. it takes me forever to get to sleep if i go to bed so early. i'm fine with that though. i get a lot of good think'n in during time.

so there is that 6 hour span which goes by so fast it is just incredible. often a chunk of it is taken up by me just wanting to get the hell out of the house and go downtown for coffee and a book. i think that the real problem is that i just feel like i am not gaining ground fast enough on my projects. it's obvious why of course.. not enough time and too many projects at once. there is nothing i can do about the lack of time, but i could cut back on my projects.. however, i don't think that i want to. i think i like having lots of things to work on.

so i guess i'll optimize my time a bit more. i really am not doing a lot of screwing off. yes, posting on the blog is screwing off and going downtown is screwing off, but i think they are worth it to me (not that i have been posting much lately). there just is not enough time in the day.
