ledskof suggested kubuntu because.. "gnome is dumb as hell".. but, i actually felt more confortable in ubuntu. maybe that's because right away i wanted to install firefox and it requires gtk and i am not linux cool enough to go installing something like that.. or for that part.. the 5 other libraries it needs to run. ubuntu just came with firefox.

i wonder what the hell it is doing when it is sitting there for 1.5 hours during the install? however.. it does actually seem to be working now. i'm even writing this post from it (from firefox.. open ie7, goto getfirefox.com, never open ie7 again). that's a major improvement from last time. the whole 'nvidia has not updated their drivers' was not a problem because it came with some. maybe i should give the 64bit version a try.
anyway. it actually is amazing how much more polished it is. it has not been that long since the last build. maybe 2 months, but it is starting to actually look like a product. and.. (i know you osx kids would laugh) windows switcher is hot (needs anti-alias).
and... dx10 works. i was rendering the cubemap car at 1 frame a year with the refrast. freak'n finally.
