daddyTuring is 4 wheel drive now. He prefers to off road as much as possible. It's actually quite interesting watching him learn to walk. I watch pretty closely as I'm looking for robot tricks-n-tips. One thing he does is intentional practicing. Sometimes he'll overcome a tough spot, turn around, and try it again and again. He's not talking yet, but he's at the point where he understands a good chunk of what you are talking about. His vocabulary just grows at a ridiculous rate. It seems like you can tell him something just once and he remembers it. So this means all the hard work is finally paying off and it's now just lazy days from now on! This is because he is such an eager helper.. Turing, will you throw this in the trash for me. Turing, wipe it up. Turing, go get Daddy's shoes. We still don't have a name for the next kid. I wanted to go with Tesla if it was a girl, but he's a boy! The problem is that we need to come up with a name as cool as Turing.. You know, to be fair. Tesla fits that requirement, but it seems more like a girl name to me for some reason. However.. I think that just might be crap. A name is a name and I'm starting to like Tesla as a boy name a bit now.
game-developmentMy office burnt down. Lame coverage Our office only barely was touched by the fire, but the water damage was extensive. Our office had 3/4 height walls which made it possible for the water to get everywhere. They fought the fire for 4 hours and when you have hoses that can spit out a 1000 gallons a minute or something crazy, you are going to make a mess. We have some temp space up across town, but things are going very slow.
radio-control My brand new never flow Trex 450SE V2 was at the office for the freak'n fire. Just great. I ended up cleaning it up and flew it about 20 times before I sold it. Sold it?? I've decided to get out of helis for awhile until I have enough time for two hobbies. Helis had been sucking all my robot time and robot time is more important to me now. Oh yah. For the V2's last flight I did my first night flight. I had some night blades and some cold lighting wire on it. It was very cool, but VERY CRAZY!!! haha. Didn't crash it though. I've also been flying profile planes with Jason and it's been a lot of fun. We both have controls so we can fly at the same time which is quite cool. I'm going to continue with the planes since they don't take much effort to keep flying. We have some in plane dog fight vids, but they suck. I'll post one when we have something decent.
robot Progress still going slow, but I'm finally getting somewhere. I have my interface reading/writing at 30fps for 18 servos. If I pack my servos writes together (4 at a time) and put a delay on the response I can get it to read at 80fps with a write at every other frame. I don't know how far I am going to take that Sketchup plugin, but maybe within a month or so I'll finally have the freak'n thing running some physics on the backend.
Geez.. My lack of writing has dropped my skill level from that of a 5th grader down to a 2nd grader. bah.
